Brock Purdy extension: Where his contract ranks league-wide

The 49ers and Brock Purdy agreed to a five-year, $265 million contract extension on May 16. This is the latest extension handed out by the 49ers following a four-year, $76.4 million extension to tight end George Kittle.

Purdy is entering his third season as the 49ers’ starting quarterback. He was the final pick (seventh round, No. 262 overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Iowa State and started that season after injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo.

He led the 49ers to an NFC championship game appearance before an injury early on in the game cut his season short. San Francisco made the Super Bowl in the 2023 season with Purdy at quarterback in his first full year as a starter. He led the NFL in quarterback rating that season and finished fourth in MVP voting.

Injuries forced him to miss regular season games for the first time in 2024. In 36 regular season starts, he’s gone 23-13 with Pro Bowl honors in 2023.

He was entering the final year of his rookie contract this season but now this extension makes him one of the highest paid players in the NFL. Here’s where he ranks among his peers at quarterback and league-wide.
